Tomato Soup and __________ (you fill in the blank!).

Sometimes I feel it is a rare sighting to see us gathered around the table for the same meal.  For the most part, I can please two of the three eaters at the same time with the menu selection.  Then one or the other gets up to modify the meal or find something entirely different.  Good on 'em for their self-sufficiency, but when did they get so picky?  Their tastes change like their shoe sizes...every couple of months.
With the weather turning in recent weeks, we've all agreed on one staple:  tomato soup!  My daughter said, "Yes!  Tomato soup with grilled cheese!"  My son said, "A turkey sub!"  I said, "Tomato soup with broiled bacon, tomato and cheese!"  Some individual requests can be accommodated and this was a meal we could each make what we wanted.

I grew up on Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup and grilled cheese on cold Fall or Winter days.  I love how certain foods bring you back to your childhood every year- especially memories of being the same ages as my kids.  She got busy on the soup while my son made his sub and headed back outside for the neighborhood game of football in our backyard.
My daughter likes to doctor the tomato soup with a big splash of marinara & Parmesan cheese.
I broiled sliced french bread in the over for the broiled bacon, tomato and cheese.
My mom made broiled bacon, tomato and melted cheese and it never gets old.
It's rare for us to gather around the table on a Saturday afternoon- we're usually busy and grab a quick lunch or stand/sit at the kitchen counter.  These are the times when they share their wisdom and insights.  It could be the most important 20 minutes of the day.  At times, it's certainly the most entertaining time of day.  One biting off more than she can chew and the other holding off the back yard football game for a few more minutes.
For more family fun times around the table, check out some of the other kid-friendly recipes on the Campbell's Wisest Kid in the Whole World™. I like to involve my kids in cooking and this is the perfect resource to browse with the kids and find something they'll love to eat.  I think we'll have to try the Chicken Taco Casserole next.

What makes your kids wise?  Do they have some words of wisdom to share?  They'll love seeing their words on the computer screen and you can share it with friends and family.
