Haunted House Sugar Cookies

While the kids were at the school Halloween dance last night, I pulled out a few sugar cookies to decorate for Halloween.  I like to mix royal icing with frosting for different textures.  For the sugar cookie recipe, go here.  For decorating instruction, continue reading...

After piping the outline and filling the cookie, place black sugar pearls using a tweezer while the royal icing is still wet.
I let the cookies dry over night and then piped orange windows for the haunted houses.  Mix black frosting and add to a small Ziplock bag.  Cut a small snip in one corner and carefully pipe the black silhouettes of the haunted houses, trees & bats.
Need haunted house shape ideas?  Google "Haunted House Silhouettes".  I had a left over pack of Halloween napkins with a haunted house scene that I used for inspiration.
The bright colors and dark silhouettes are really fun with this cookie.
