Orange you glad I didn't say banana smoothie


For the days you can't make it up to 12,000' by lunchtime to make snow angels in mid-July, here is a great light smoothie to cool down your hot summer days.  Mornings when I'm out the door for a 6 hour excursion, I power up with a 400-500 calorie smoothie:
Blend 1/2 cup of orange juice (55 cal), 1/2 cup of carrot juice (45 cal), one banana (100 cal), 1 cup chopped pineapple (70 cal), 2-3 T ground flax seed (70 cal), 1 scoop whey protein powder (100 cal), 1 cup of ice.
I usually steer away from bananas in my smoothies because the banana tends to overpower the other fruit flavors.  This smoothie is a nice balance of carrot, pineapple, orange & banana.  Make one before your next adventure!
