This may be one of the best things I have ever made. I grew up on chocolate covered marshmallow eggs for Easter and this year I wanted to try my own rendition. I upgraded the Russell Stover's chocolate to Godiva chocolate and added Nutella to the melted marshmallow filling.
Brush the candy melt up the sides of the mold to create a hallow center for filling:
Melt Godiva (my favorite, but you can use any chocolate) for the other six eggs:
I was going to just add melted marshmallows as the filling, until I spotted the Nutella next to the marshmallows in the pantry.
Pipe the Nutella into one of the half shells:
Spoon cooled melted marshmallows into the other half shell:
Melt the edges of the chocolate egg shells on a warm skillet. This will even the edges and adhere the two sides:
You can also fill the shells with candy:
Aren't they pretty?
For a few of the eggs, I let the melted marshmallows set up again to make it easier to add mostly marshmallow and then piped the Nutella over the marshmallow.
Adhere the top shell:
It is crazy delicious. Our eggs are a mix of just marshmallow, marshmallow/Nutella, and M&Ms. Next time I'll add a coconut filling to the mix.
