Heart & Cupcake Cookies

I needed to get started on two cakes over the weekend, so I made a batch of cookies instead.  Ooops.  I was inspired by my Valentine's Day mantel with all of the pink and red.
I bought these darling LED cupcakes this year.  It is so pretty when they are all turned on as they fade from white to yellow to red to blue to purple to pink and back to white.
As you can see, I had about 4 different sets of cookies in mind.  For this post, we'll focus on the hearts and cupcakes and save the penguins and party hats.
I tend to start with white, move to pink and finish up with red.
Place embellishments while the icing is still wet.
The cupcake wrappers were piped with red and pink royal icing and the frosting on the cupcake is real frosting with a Wilton 4B tip.

The cupcakes are finished off with a mini circle cookie with red icing for the cherry on top!
Just like the cupcakes across the mantel.
The hearts and cupcake cookies go with the Tic-Tac-Toe chalkboard cookies (recipes & tutorial can be found here).
More Valentine treats are coming your way.  In the meantime, you can click to here to see other Valentine inspired projects and treats.
