Spring Mantel

I needed a Spring Mantel re-do.
I had a Spring Mantel up for a couple of weeks, but it was sparse with a few succulents, birch candles, faux garden rocks and ceramic birds/bunny.  My assortment of heavy candle holders came down pretty quickly.  The mirror was not right, either.  I'm not sure where that mirror is right in my house.
Not having many "Easter-y" decorations, I was trying to make due with what I had on hand.  Flowering branches!  I made my daughter run up to her room to retrieve the branches she had stuck in a corner.  I moved the succulents to the outer edges and kept the birds/bunny and grass in the center.
I pulled the wood frame from the playroom leaning against the wall behind my bike trainer...
...and whipped up some scrap paper bunting for across the front of the fireplace and to use behind the frame.
Making your own bunting is really simple:  cut desired size triangles out of assorted scrapbook paper.  Using a hold punch, punch a hole on either corner of the base (which will really be the top) of the triangle and thread twine or ribbon through each triangle.  I used some narrow scraps folded accordion style to make little accent fans on the bunting behind the frame.
If I had a few pastel plastic eggs, I would have scattered some through the Easter grass.  Instead, I sent the kids to pull out of bag of Speckled M&Ms from my stash.  Reminds me....the Easter Bunny needs to get it together soon!
It wouldn't be Easter without Speckled M&Ms strewn all over the house:
I can live with this mantel.
