Winter snowshoe

This sign is one of my favorite sightings on all of the trails I run, hike and snowshoe.  It is located near a trail at 9,000ft that meanders in and around towering mature blue spruce and sub-alpine fir trees on one end, and is surrounded by water-purifying wetlands on the other end.
The powdery trail was cut only by a narrow pair of cross country tracks and various animal tracks darting in every direction.
There is something about being enveloped by the towering trees that feels secure and protective.
Snowy creek crossing opens to another meadow:
 Snow-filled branches tapping your shoulder
A small ray of light shining through the blue hued cold
Time stands as still as the wintry forest.
Sometimes when I'm out there, it's hard to imagine there is a bustling world elsewhere.

  1. Wow. I don't know there are words to describe how beautiful that is in person. I have a word looking at the pictures though, jealous!!!

  2. So majestic, your pictures are beautiful. Thank you again for sharing.
